In 13 days I'll be looking at these beautiful mountains from above, I will see the long white cloud making itself thicker and longer as it travels through the valleys. I will see the two islands disappearing in the diatance as we fly across the ocean, it's time to say goodbye.
One year of adventures, game changes, roadtrips and crazy plans turned into the best year so far. Mum always says that everything happens for a reason, I do believe her after all the little happenings that started big things, like avalanches.
I had many little conversations in the dead slow chairlifts of the Remarkables, sometimes I was telling my kids about the penguin farm I've got home and sometimes my adults would be surprised about my life. Every now and then I'd be sitting there with an old man wondering where to ski today or of the weather would change or not, but today this old lady took my gloveless hand and said ;" if you can ski with no fear, ride a race horse with no fear and travel the world with no fear, you must be doing better than you think, but now find a boy"
I was surprised first and then told her the story about the last three months, she smiled and wanted to ski with me just for one single lap. We skied together all the way down to the base building, ended up having a hot chocolate and a few more chats. Was easy to smile for the rest of the day.
The ski season is coming to it's end, it's getting slushy and warm up the slopes and less wintery. The snow is disappearing as we working on our t-shirts and splashing the slush as we're carving down the pistes. Luckily we got a huge snowfall and it didn't stop snowing for three days, powder days!!
I think I also became more and more a skier this season as I sold my board and started to look for some sweet skis for the next season wherever it will be.
It's been amazing, that's all I can say.
I'm happy to be part of this crazy industry with the best people and be able to do something I love day after day. Last weeks has been like the last weeks of spring back in when I was in highschool, parties and happenings around the mountain and town. Birthdays, staff parties, gay ski week race, competitions and lots of goodbyes.
Tomorrow I'll be 21 and finally an official adult everywhere around the world. Not sure if I'll be any more adulty after that but at least a bit older. Last year this time I found myself in Omar sailing with dolphins and diving with colourful fishes, later having a dinner in the middle of the desert with my best friend, this year everything is on the other side of the world and still a surprise.
My plan for the next two weeks is two ski as much as I can, as fast as I can and enjoy the snow as long as I can. I'll get the most of the powder and slush as I enjoy the mountain with the crazy skiers. Days will be full of joy, skiing, fresbee golf and sun. Last weeks of New Zealand, in a weird way it's making me feel empty again but that's travelling once again. This island really made my life go upsidedown and around a few times but in the end of the day it's just another good story to tell.
